Rules of the game

You will find in your living room the rules of the game suggested here, the Texas Hold'em.

  • Setting up the game
    • A dealer is appointed to deal the cards throughout the hand. The dealer's position changes clockwise after each hand.
    • The player to the left of the dealer puts in the small blind: 1 white chip, for example.
    • The player to the left of the small blind puts in the big blind: largest compulsory bet, equal to 2 times the smallest bet: 2 white chips, for example.
    • The Dealer deals each player 2 private cards (hidden from the other players).
  • Sequence of events
    • Auction rounds
      • Pre-flop After receiving their 2 cards, the player to the left of the big blind starts the betting round: he bets the chips he wants, without any restrictions, or decides to fold (abandonment of the game).  The following players can in turn call by putting in the same amount of chips, raise by putting in a higher amount of chips, or fold. This continues until all players have bet the same amount.
      • Flop 3 community cards are returned to the centre. New round of bids.
      • Turn 1 additional fourth community card is turned over in the centre. New round of bids.
      • River 1 additional fifth community card is returned to the centre. Last bidding round.
  • Aim of the game
    • Make the best 5-card combination with your 2 private cards and the 5 community cards
  • Prohibited behaviour
    • Cheating or looking at other people's cards
    • Talking or showing your cards
  • End of hand and chip count
    • The hand ends when :
      • All players except one have folded: the remaining player wins the pot.
      • All the betting rounds are over: the remaining players reveal their cards (showdown) and the player with the best combination wins the pot. In the event of an exact tie, the pot is shared equally.
  • End of the game and victory
    • The game can be played to a set number of hands or until one player has won all the chips.
    • The player with the most chips at the end is declared the winner.
  • PLEASE NOTE: As part of the fight against gambling addiction and money laundering, it is strictly forbidden to gamble for money.
